Insurance and cover

Whether a medical transport is covered depends on your policy and your insurer. EMS does not stand in for either, but coordinates with them where needed.

Transport carried out by the EMS team or arranged with a partner, depending on your needs and availability.

What your policy decides

Whether a transport guarantee exists, how far it extends, any ceilings and the conditions for reimbursement are all set by your insurance or assistance contract. EMS has no access to that information and cannot tell you what you are entitled to. Those questions go to your insurer, preferably before the transport.

Notify the assistance company before the journey

Where cover may apply, contact your insurer or assistance company before arranging the journey. Most policies require prior agreement, and a claim made after the event is usually much harder to get through. Then put the case handler in direct contact with EMS.

How EMS coordinates with a third party

We deal directly with the assistance company or insurer on the journey to be carried out, the conditions and how settlement works. Medical documents and authorisations move between the case handler and the healthcare professionals concerned, never through the public form on this site.

Travellers from abroad

For someone staying in Tunisia, the case is usually driven by travel insurance or an assistance company in the home country. EMS covers the ground leg on Tunisian territory; the flight, any escort on board and the arrangements on arrival fall to that case handler.

Where there is no cover

If no guarantee applies, or agreement cannot be obtained in time, the transport can be arranged directly with EMS on the basis of a quote. We set out the conditions before you decide.
