What information to give when requesting an ambulance
A well-prepared call makes it possible to assess feasibility quickly, choose the right arrangement and produce a more reliable quote. A few precise details are worth more than a long message with no address or time.
Give the full addresses, the name of the facility and the ward concerned. Add a useful landmark, the floor, the lift and any parking or access difficulties. For a clinic, say whether the admission or the reception of the patient is already confirmed.
The date and the type of journey
State the date, the preferred time, whether the need is immediate or planned, and whether it is one way, a return or involves waiting. For an appointment, give the time the patient must be there, not just the time you would like to leave.
The patient's mobility
Say whether the person walks, moves with help, uses a wheelchair or must stay on a stretcher. Mention weight or carrying difficulties when they call for particular arrangements.
Needs during the journey
Mention oxygen, drips or devices in use, the need for monitoring, position restrictions and the doctor's instructions. Do not send a full medical file through a public form; sensitive information is exchanged with the authorised crew.
Contact and payment
Give a number reachable on the day, the name of the person in charge and the contact details at the arrival point. Say whether payment is made by the family, a facility, an insurer or an assistance company.
When to call directly
For an immediate need or a last-minute change, call EMS. In a life-threatening situation or an acute deterioration, contact the public emergency services without waiting for a WhatsApp reply.
In a life-threatening emergency or an acute deterioration, contact the competent public emergency services immediately. A request sent by form or WhatsApp does not confirm a transport booking.
